Simon Elliott, Cornwall Councillor for Ludgvan and Vice Chair of Cornwall Council’s Children and Families Overview and Scrutiny Committee has welcomed the news that the Conservative Government has awarded more COVID Winter Grant funding to Cornwall Council
The increase of the COVID Winter Grant from the initial Government funding allocation of £1,831,567.30 sees an additional two week extension to cover the Easter Holidays for free school meals with additional funding of £636,739 received by the Cornwall Council from the Government.
Commenting, Simon said:
“We all know how important it is that we address food poverty in children and free school meals have always been an important part of this.”
“I welcomed the original COVID Winter Grant fund from the Government and the news that the fund will increase by nearly £650,000 is an excellent step for the children of Cornwall. I am sure many families will be encouraged by this news."
