The Conservative Group on Cornwall Council has today welcomed Cllr Paul Wills, who represents St Columb Major, St Mawgan & St Wenn, as a Conservative-aligned Independent, following his quitting of the so-called Independent Group.
Cllr Wills was first elected to Cornwall Council in 2017 and currently is Chairman of the council’s Standards Committee.
Conservative Group Leader and Leader of Cornwall Council, Cllr Linda Taylor said:
“On behalf of the Conservative Group on Cornwall Council I am delighted to welcome Paul Wills to the fold.”
“Paul is a strong local champion and advocate for his area and a formidable voice at County Hall. We all look forward to working with him on behalf of the residents of Cornwall in the future.”
“As I said when a previous Independent Councillor aligned themselves with us, Conservatism is a broad church and we will always welcome and work with councillors from across county hall who wish to join us in working together for the good of the people of Cornwall who we are all here to serve and represent.”
Commenting Cllr Paul Wills said:
“I am looking forward to working with the Conservative Group and helping to achieve the ambition of making Cornwall a fantastic place to live, work and enjoy in retirement. Hard working people deserve an administration that believes in their valued contribution to all our daily lives.”
