Cornwall Council has today welcomed an additional £9million of Government funding which has been awarded via the Household Support Fund to help those who need it through ongoing cost of living pressures.
The Department for Work and Pensions Household Support Fund (HSF) has awarded Cornwall Council £9,057,140 to support those most in need to help with significantly rising living costs. The additional funding has been made available to support those most in need to help with global inflationary challenges and the significantly rising cost of living. This funding covers the period 1 April 2024 to 30 September 2024 inclusive.
The Government has provided the Household Support Fund and its predecessor, the Covid Winter Grant scheme since 2020, providing funding to support people who need it during this time. In the Spring Budget on 6 March 2024, the Chancellor announced a 6 month extension to the Household Support Fund.
The Leader of Cornwall Council, Linda Taylor, said:
“I was pleased to today sign off on the Government’s latest funding from the Household Support Fund to support some of our most vulnerable residents with pressures brought about by the global cost of living crisis.”
“Cornwall Council will work with our partners to ensure this funding is quickly made available to those who need it most and I look forward to it being used to make a difference to people across Cornwall in the coming months.”
